The city of Clyde is a part of the Abilene, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located in Northwestern Callahan County in Texas. Interstate 20 passes through the city, connecting it to the county seat, Baird that is 6 miles away as well as to the city of Abilene located 14 miles away.
The city of Clyde was founded when the first settlers decided to make it their home in 1876. The railroad and the railway station brought more settlers with them and soon the first post office opened in Clyde. The city has been thriving ever since. With a total area of 3.3 square miles, according to the 2010 census Clyde has a population of 3,713.
The schools of the Clyde Consolidated Independent School District dispense education to the youth of Clyde. Clyde is home to the Clyde High School Bulldogs, a highly successful football team. “The Platform” adds cultural value to the town-life. It is perfect venue to host outdoor concerts, theatrical presentations, weddings and community get together. Many festivals and community activities are held here enhancing the vibrancy of Clyde.
The serene Clyde Lake offers plenty of recreational activities for the residents of Clyde and surrounding areas.
